Yarn For Sale

Hi Friends,

I'm de-stashing my yarn collection. If that's your thing, I'd appreciate if you took a look here:

Stuff I did when I wasn't here

The title is borrowed from the Bloggess, who is totally NSFW and totally outrageously fun.

Anyway, I had a crazy weekend. We went ice skating on Friday. Our son has been loving ice skating, so he and my husband go every Friday. This week I tagged along and clapped and waved (I'm 6 months pregnant and not doing anything requiring coordination to avoid falling on hard surfaces).

Saturday we had friends and family over just because. We had 5 adults and 4 kids under the age of 5. It was blessed pandemonium, just the way we like it. And then I went bananas and cut an old t-shirt up into fabric yarn, and knitted it into washcloths. Because I could, I guess. I blame the pregnancy hormones and Pinterest.

I followed that up tonight by chopping up a sweater I had gotten at Goodwill for $5 that was, ahem, too snug and too short and made a cardigan.

Ta da!

The washcloths are 3 different sizes in a deep eggplant color. Love, love. Both ideas are courtesy of Pinterest. I think I've now made about a half dozen of the 729 things I have pinned.

I am home with my son on Mondays, and we also made curtains for his room today. I'll put up pictures soon, maybe. He's presently sleeping in the room where the curtains are, so it might be a little counterproductive to bedtime to take photos :)  My sewing machine is getting a workout, which is only fair given its dormant state of the last 5 years.

I'm hoping to get some cards and soap made this week too. We'll see. It's been bananas around here. Mmm, bananas.

Black Backgrounds

I am playing along with the Papertrey Ink blog hop. The challenge this month is to use a black background. I love the effect you can get from a black background. I thought this embossing powder would be a good complement to it. The flowers here are Beautiful Blooms II which I've been using all week. It's such a  lovely set.

Lesson learned: Grey does not photograph very well, at least when done by an amateur like me. Sorry about that. The sentiment is Hero Arts and comes in a great set of friendship sentiments that I don't use nearly enough. The design is from Retro Sketches which in accidentally rotated, sort of. Thanks for coming by!

Washi Peacock

I got this delightful Smash washi tape from Target. My local Target has a big line of Smash stuff, which is pretty irresistible. I'm also playing with a favorite old stamp from Hero Arts in the A Blog Named Hero challenge to use "golden oldies". The gems are all different colors. I'm also playing with the Simon Says Stamp challenge to use washi tape. Thanks for visiting.

Another day using the lovely Beautiful Blooms II set from Papertrey Ink. This time I am playing along with CAS-ual Fridays' challenge to make a card that is 3x6in. I used the ColourQ color palette. Are you playing along? Thanks for stopping by.

I was inspired by the Paper Trey Ink Make it Monday challenge video. Dawn gave several suggestions for how to give or send cards with oversized embellishments, including ideas for getting them through the mail. I needed a card for my grandma, so I went that route. I am using a new-to-me set, Beautiful Blooms II, which I hope you won't get sick of, as I'm using it for the next couple of days of cards. I simply stamped the envelope. I didn't address it first, but I'm sure you can imagine what it would look like with addresses :) The embellishment is from Prima and has a pearl in the middle.

This sketch comes from Paper Smooches, as does the sentiment. I love PS sentiments. And the colors come from the Play Date Cafe. Thank you for visiting!

I was delighted to find this little Verve stamp stuck to the back of something unrelated while cleaning my craft table. I just love the sentiment and think it could work for a number of situations. I'm playing along with the Mojo Monday challenge.

The funny wave piee was made from a PTI die cut for a slider card. This is the leftover bit that I held onto for, well, I guess this occasion :) The ribbon is from the Ribbon Carousel. The solid color is a bright pink that didn't quite photograph pink. Thanks for the visit.

Retro Colour

I'm playing along again with the Retro Sketch, as well as Colour Q. I tried a technique Arielle described once, in which she puts her embossing folder on the floor and steps on selected parts of it. I tried that with the lines. You can sort of see it if you squint :) The sentiment is Paper Smooches, and the paper is Glitz (Vintage Blue). Thanks for the visit!

P.S. This is my second post for today.

She decided to let her hair down

I have had this Christy Tomlinson paper for far too long without using it, and when the Paper Smooches inspiration picture called for something Vintage, I was glad to use two of the designs from the pack (which I have in the 6x6 size). I wanted to be sure to include some typeface as well as red, white and kraft. My card base is cream.
I also used the bird and heart from the Swanky Snowdudes set. I was inspired by the sketch from RetroSketches. Thanks for your visit.

Hey Buddy

I made this simple little card for the Just Us Girls sketch challenge. I thought it would be fun to make a kids card with the new stickers from Paper Studio. They were just so shiny they beckoned to me. I swear, being pregnant makes my taste in all things a little bit different. Anyway, here it is:

And the sketch:
The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. Do you have any funny "My taste in this (non-food thing) changed when I was pregnant" stories to share?

Thanks and Happy

I made two pretty similar cards using some great washi tape I got while shopping for only things I need at Target. I promise. I was not casing the scrapbooking section while pretending to look for toilet paper. Definitely not. Probably not.

Anyway, the first is for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge to make a thank you card. Here it is:
The washi tape is Smash, the sentiment is Paper Smooches, and the stars are Lawn Fawn from the Admit One set. A tip: I can never get stuff lined up right. For the tape, I scored a line at 1" from the bottom, and then lined the tape up on the top of it. Easy, peasy.

The second is for the Simon Says Stamp challenge to use black, white and a splash of color and the Lawnscaping challenge to make a birthday card.

I was able to make a bunch of cards today (I have two more days off before school starts again), so I hope I'll be by here quite a bit more this week. Thanks for coming by.
